What is the difference between Select and Basic? Top

'Basic' is the entry level membership into RapidLance. Basic subscribers gain partial access to listed projects and service engagement tools such as RapidLance's global billing and payment system.

'Select' is for established businesses and professionals and is subject to stricter qualification standards. In return, Select subscribers have access to the 'Select' set of projects and higher marketing visibility on directories and searches. They also gain access to advanced functionality such as confidential proposals designed to differentiate their offerings and protect their intellectual property.

In general, the advanced functionality and stricter qualification for buyers and service providers in Select results in larger and more qualified projects being transacted. Select service providers on average win more projects and earn more per project than the average Basic service provider.

You can choose the Select service provider option during registration. If you are already registered, you can upgrade to Select in 'My RapidLance'.

For Either Select or Basic, always attach your contract terms and conditions to your private message board when awarded a project to negotiate.  For sample contracts, click on the "Resources" tab at the top of your "My RapidLance" pages.

Select Professional Standards

Select Standards for Service Providers
RapidLance Select service providers are committed to upholding high professional standards, providing exceptional customer satisfaction and adhering to fair business practices. The following standards represent this commitment.

Profiles
  • Will have a complete profile detailing relevant experience for that subcategory where profile is listed.
  • Will meet authentication requirements for Select service providers
Submitting Bids and Proposals
  • Will make reasonable effort to provide detailed, customized proposals that are relevant to the project. General sales pitches are confined to Profile page or attachment to bids.
  • Will not submit "lowball" or placeholder bids. Bid amounts are only part of the full proposal, and will reflect true scope of project and time commitment necessary to provide highest client satisfaction.
  • Will not offer free or unsolicited mockups in public bidding on Select projects. Mockups may be provided at service provider's discretion, but only in context of Select project negotiations with buyer through the private message boards. (NOTE: Some Basic project postings may require mock-ups with a bid. While RapidLance does not recommend this practice for anyone, we acknowledge that it is often part of the challenge of doing business in a highly competitive global marketplace. ALL service providers on RapidLance provide mock-ups in Basic at their own discretion and risk.)
  • Will adhere to the minimum bids required in the Select marketplace.
Working with Buyer
  • Will work with buyer before project begins to outline requirements, milestones and payment terms, either through private message board or written agreement.
  • Will communicate with buyer in a professional manner. Accept/decline project and respond to buyer questions promptly, and keep buyer informed of changes to project timeline or scope.
Feedback
  • In event of disputes affecting completion of project, will attempt to resolve disputes through SquareTrade (free of charge) and work to avoid negative feedback.
  • Repeated client dissatisfaction, as evidenced through low feedback or buyer complaints, repeated cancellation of accepted projects or failure to complete projects, will be cause for review and may lead to suspension from Select.

Select Standards for Buyers
Buyers posting projects in RapidLance Select are committed to upholding high professional standards and adhering to fair business practices. The following standards represent this commitment and will help RapidLance Select service providers provide the highest possible level of client satisfaction.

Posting Projects
  • Although not required to choose an RapidLance service provider, buyers posting in Select are signaling a clear intention to complete the project. If you are looking for general information on pricing or estimates, check the service provider directories to review their standard rates for services.
  • Will not require providers to submit free mock-ups or samples as part of bids/proposals. If you are discussing project details with a service provider on the private message boards, you may both agree that a mock-up is an appropriate part of the negotiations. But submitting a sample is at the service provider's discretion, and it is not an accepted industry standard to request free mock-ups.
  • Will choose winning proposals promptly to allow sufficient time for service provider to schedule and complete the project.
Working with Service Provider
  • Will work with service provider before project begins, to outline requirements, milestones and payment terms, either through private message board or written agreement.
  • Will communicate with service provider in a professional manner. Respond to questions promptly and keep provider informed of changes to project timeline or scope. If significant changes are made, service provider will not be held accountable for original bid. You can either repost the project or renegotiate terms using the private message boards.
  • If you must cancel the project, notify Customer Service promptly to prevent service provider from being charged transaction fee.
Feedback
  • In event of disputes affecting completion of project, will attempt to resolve disputes through SquareTrade (free of charge) and work to avoid negative feedback.
  • You and the service provider agreed to your originally posted project. If the project's description or scope changed, do not penalize the service provider if they are unable to deliver work beyond the original project agreement.

Can a Select service provider bid on all Select projects? Top
RapidLance Select subscription is available in category-based bundles. You can bid on all Select projects posted within the categories covered by your subscription. As with Basic, you must also have an active profile listed in a category to submit proposals for projects posted there. You may change your subscription choices at any time.


Can I still bid on projects in the Basic Marketplace? Top
Yes. Select service providers have all the benefits of Basic service providers and do not any pay any additional fees to submit proposals for Basic projects. Additionally, when you bid on Basic projects, your bid will show at the top of the list and display the Select icon.

Remember that to submit proposals you must have a service profile in that project's category.


Can Basic service providers bid on Select projects? Top
No. While all RapidLance marketplaces remain open to viewing by all visitors, regardless of status, only Select service providers can bid on Select projects.


What are the minimum bids for each category? Top
Minimum bids are required in the Select marketplace. All the bids you submit on a Select project must be at or above this level. These minimum project values represent the commitment to quality work by our pre screened service providers who have agreed to abide by Select Professional Standards

How are service providers authenticated? Top
Select service providers must be authenticated through one or both RapidLance partners US Search or SquareTrade. When you register as a Select service provider, you agree to either get one credential verified by US Search or join the SquareTrade Seal Program, depending on your geographic location. Credential verification is only available to users in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and English-speaking areas of Canada. Membership in the SquareTrade Seal Program is available to all users. You can access both partners from the bottom of your Service Profile menu page in My RapidLance.


How are buyers in the Select Marketplace verified? Top

Buyers who post a project in the RapidLance Marketplace are asked to provide a valid credit card for identity verification. For Buyers posting in Select, a $25 refundable deposit is also required.

How the $25 deposit works:
The buyer's credit card is authorized for a $25 deposit, but no charge is actually made. If the buyer does not choose a winning bid within 30 days after the bidding closes and the project has received five or more bids, the buyer's credit card is then charged the $25.00.

It is highly recommended that you always attach your contract terms and conditions to your private message board when awarded a project to negotiate.  For sample contracts, click on the "Resources" tab at the top of your "My RapidLance" pages.

Why do I need to get authenticated? Top
Select service providers are authenticated in order to maintain a level of professionalism and quality in the Select marketplace. Both US Search and SquareTrade perform basic identity verification. US Search also verifies that you have the expertise relevant to the Select categories you choose, while membership in the SquareTrade Seal Program provides your clients a Guarantee and signals your commitment to client satisfaction and the resolution of disputes through their Online Dispute Resolution service.

The authentication requirement benefits not only Select buyers, but also Select service providers by raising the level of professionalism among bidders.


How long does it take to get authenticated? Top
US Search and SquareTrade may take up to a week to process authentication requests. For your convenience, RapidLance allows a one week grace period to complete these steps. You can bid on Select projects during this time.


How much does it cost to join SquareTrade? Top
SquareTrade membership is available to RapidLance service providers for an annual fee based on revenues. See a complete list of SquareTrade fees.


How much does it cost to get verified by US Search? Top
Verification is $15.00 per credential. Additional charges may apply for verifying certain employment records and certifications. If you provide false or inaccurate information that leads to a failed verification, you will still be charged.


Do I need a credit card to join SquareTrade? Top
SquareTrade will waive the credit card requirement for non-U.S. residents. When applying, if you specify a country of residence other than the U.S., SquareTrade will allow you to check "I do not have a credit card" on the Credit Card Information page. A credit card will still be required for U.S. residents.


After I sign up, how soon will I become a Select service provider? Top
Once you pay the subscription and begin applications for US Search and/or SquareTrade, you are considered a Select service provider. While you are waiting for acceptance by US Search and/or SquareTrade, you will have a temporary Select provider status. If your application to US Search or SquareTrade is not accepted, contact RapidLance Customer Support or you will lose your temporary Select status and be listed as a provider in the Basic Marketplace. NOTE: Please allow 5 hours for the Select seal to appear in your profile once we've received payment.


Can a company get verified by US Search? Top
US Search is currently unable to verify the existence of companies or company-level credentials. Companies should therefore get credentials for each employee verified.


Is credential verification available to everyone? Top
No. US Search is able to verify credentials, such as employment and education, for only the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and English-speaking areas of Canada. If you live outside these areas, you must join SquareTrade to meet Select requirements.


Do I need a credit card to get US Search credential verification? Top
No. Credential verifications may be paid through your RapidLance Account. Remember, though, that US Search credential verification is available only to residents of the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and English-speaking areas of Canada.
